A diagnosis of cancer can be devastating. Often times it affects more than a single individual, and can impact an entire community. In 2006 the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity chapter at the University of San Diego had such an experience. One of the chapter men was diagnosed with stage III-B Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

In an effort to aid their brother and display steadfast solidarity, the brothers came together with a community service project to raise financial support for his medical bills. Through that experience, the Bleed Purple Foundation was born, and has evolved into a recognized charitable organization.

The intention of the Bleed Purple Foundation is to raise financial support for college students across the country battling this disease. The Foundation’s goal is to raise ten-million dollars by the end of 2010 in an effort to unite Greeks in the fight against cancer.

The University of Oregon Delta Tau Delta chapter intends to support the mission of the Bleed Purple Foundation. It is our goal to invite campus participation not only for an exciting event, but also for a worthy cause. Please join us in our efforts.

      2009 Divisional Conference
DeltsOn February 13th through 15th the Western Pacific division conference of Delta Tau Delta was held in Tucson, Arizona. Gamma Rho sent 3 members along with our faculty and alumni advisors. Those in attendance learned a great deal and came home with suitcases stuffed full of awards. The chapter won awards for: exceeding the all men’s and all fraternity average for GPA, exceeding its recruitment goal, having an excellent adopt-a-school program, growing by 20%, shelter presentation, outstanding ritual education, 10% growth challenge and being first on campus academically. On an individual level, Chapter Advisor Seth Revoal received an award for exceptional service as an alumnus; former president Duncan Robb was recognized as the outstanding chapter leader for the Western Pacific division and Geoff Palachuk was acknowledged for being Intrafraternal council president. The chapter was also presented with the Court of Honor award which is given to the top 20 Delt chapters in the nation. It was the first time in the 44 years of the awards existence that Gamma Rho has received it. Members and alumni agreed it was great recognition that only fueled the fire pushing the chapter onward to become more excellent than before. Next year, Gamma Rho hopes to bring back its first Hugh Shields Award.
